Movement · the gentle pillar
Saunter
Walk, mostly. Lift, sometimes.
Move gently, move often. Move for the long arc.
The fitness app category is the most over-served in wellness, and the most hostile to the audience we serve. Strava is for racers. Peloton is for grinders. Apple Fitness+ is for class-takers. The audience Hale brings in — longevity-minded, mid-life, recovering from optimization fatigue — does not want another app yelling at them to close a ring.
Saunter exists to close the loop on Hale's movement targets — Zone 2 minutes, strength minimums, mobility frequency — without a workout-app posture. And to reframe movement for longevity: VO2max, strength, balance, mobility, and consistency matter more than peak intensity.
Without Saunter
The workout app you keep deleting.
- Strava that thinks you want to race.
- Peloton that thinks you have an hour.
- Apple Fitness+ that thinks you want a class.
- A streak you'll break, a ring you'll miss, a guilt loop you'll quit.
- Hale's Zone 2 target with no surface to enact it.
With Saunter
A movement practice that respects your week.
- The Daily Move — one thing today, sized for what you actually have.
- Zone 2 as the anchor — a single ring, weekly target from Hale.
- Strength minimums, twice a week, 20 minutes, anything counts.
- Mobility & restorative days — a real category, not "rest" framed as failure.
- Walks-with-Vin during long calls. The walk still counts.
What Saunter will do
Seven pillars of movement for the long arc.
No PRs. No streaks. No leaderboards. No 'you missed a day' guilt. The name itself is the promise.
The Daily Move
Each morning, Vin proposes one movement for today. A walk, a strength minimum, mobility, restorative — whichever the data suggests. 60 seconds. Accept, swap, or decline.
Zone 2 as the anchor
Zone 2 minutes per week as a single ring on Today. Target from Hale. VO2max trended over months and years. Honest about what counts.
Strength minimums
20 minutes, twice a week. Kettlebell, dumbbells, bands, bodyweight, gardening with intent, hauling groceries — all count. Voice-led so the phone goes face-down.
Mobility & restorative
10-minute daily mobility, focus chosen by yesterday's session. Restorative days as a real category — yoga nidra, walking, gentle yoga — not "rest" framed as failure.
Adaptive intensity
Recovery-aware (Vesper HRV), phase-aware (Lumara), schedule-aware (calendar), travel-aware (location), illness-aware (low HRV + symptoms). Vin offers; never forbids.
Walk coaching
Guided outdoor walks with Vin — thinking, conversational, or silent. Phone-calls-while-walking encouragement. The walk still counts. Walking meditations from Stilla sync to walk length.
The Shantivita loop
Closing Hale's movement loop — without yelling at you.
Saunter's wedge is that Hale prescribes targets and Saunter coaches them gently. No other longevity-adjacent app has that closed loop.
Hale → Saunter.
Active protocol writes Zone 2 minutes, strength sessions, mobility frequency, healthspan-test cadence to the shared context. Saunter consumes silently. One Zone 2 ring; behind it is Hale.
Vesper → Saunter.
Last night's HRV and sleep score arrive each morning. Low recovery → restorative day suggestion before you see a workout option. High recovery → Vin lets you push.
Lumara → Saunter.
Phase signals adjust the suggestion, never forbid. Higher capacity late-follicular and ovulation; restorative emphasis in luteal and menstrual. Matter-of-fact, not mystical.
Saunter → Nouri.
Big walks shift Nouri's hydration nudge. Heavy strength days shift protein targets up. Travel and illness modes flow through.
Saunter → Hale.
Quarterly VO2max walk test, sit-to-stand, balance and gait, grip strength from the welcome-box dynamometer. Raw measurements; Hale's Healthspan Score interprets them.
Vin · in Saunter, Tuesday morning
“HRV's down from your seven-day average and you slept under six and a half hours. I'd skip the strength session today — a 30-minute Zone 2 walk while your 11am call is on the calendar puts you over the weekly target with room to spare. The strength minimum lands tomorrow.”
The body wants a long, gentle practice.
